Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? The town of Twin Falls, Idaho has an incredible waterfall called Shoshone Falls. Shoshone Falls is also known as the “Niagara of the West.”

As you enter Shoshone Falls Park, there is a nice winding drive that takes you past some very neat little waterfalls. As quaint as they are, they do not fully prepare you for the magnificent Shoshone Falls that you will see.

There are a few different viewing areas, which allow you to see the waterfalls from various angles. No matter which overlook you choose, the falls are truly spectacular.

At the first overlook we enjoyed looking at the Falls and all of the different wildflowers that grew in the area.

The second and most popular overlook allows you an unobstructed view of the falls and the area around. This is probably where you can get the best pictures of the falls. We were blessed to enjoy this gorgeous rainbow by the waterfall for a little while when we were there.

The third overlook that we went to is the furthest, but it was really neat to see the kayakers go up closer to the falls. I don’t think I would have been as brave as they were! You can see the kayakers getting ready to lauch in the bottom right corner in the first picture below.

With water cascading down 212 feet, Shoshone Falls really are an incredible sight. The falls are 900 feet wide! Just a fun fact, Niagara Falls are 188 feet high, so Shoshone Falls are actually taller! If you’re ever in the Twin Falls area, we highly recommend a trip to the falls!
