To us, there’s no better way to ring in the New Year than at the beach! We like to wash away the old year and get ready for the new, while soaking up some sun!

This year we decided to go to Crescent Beach. This beautiful white sand beach is just south of Saint Augustine, along the Atlantic. The weather can get pretty windy and rough, but when we went it was absolutely perfect!

We were greeted by this very friendly gopher tortoise! It was fun to watch him cruise alongside the boardwalk to the beach. He didn’t seem content to stay there, though. He had places to be and he wasn’t going to be stopped by us watching him. He came out and walked right on the boardwalk until he decided to pop on over to visit a friend on the other side. You can find a short YouTube video of our tortoise friend here: 🐢 Gopher Tortoise on the Sand Dune

When we got to the sand, we took off our shoes and enjoyed walking in the water. The water had a bit of a chill to it, but the sun shining down on us kept us warm. We always enjoy walking in the water and getting some steps in. We walked and enjoyed the water for hours. It was so soothing and peaceful–definitely some perfect salt-water therapy.

There were some surfers there and it was fun to watch them catch a wave. The shore birds (willet, sand pipers, pelicans, and seagulls) were adorable and kept us entertained, too.

Of course we had to write 2025 in the sand and let the waves wash it away. You can see the video here: Let the ocean wash 2025 away 🌊
