Utah is such a beautiful state with so many fascinating places to enjoy and explore. On this adventure, we ventured over to see the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park.

In case you were wondering what a Hoodoo is, they are tall rock pillars or spires. They start as a rounded hill, then due to wind and water erosion become a wall or fin formation. They then become a window, and finally end up as a Hoodoo. Bryce Canyon has the greatest amount of Hoodoos of anywhere on Earth! How cool is that?
Our first stop was Sunrise Point. At this point in our day, the weather was sunny and warm–perfect for the start of our day! Sunrise Point overlooks the Bryce Amphitheater, and has some amazing views of the Hoodoos! All of us loved looking out and seeing the different formations.

As we went to Sunset Point, the views changed and became even better! You could see the individual Hoodoos and their distinct characteristics. The weather started changing, too. It became very apparent that we were going to have some interesting weather.

We then drove a short way to Inspiration Point and walked along Rim Trail. We got a bit wet due the the rain that started, but still had a great time exploring! Juliana and I were excited to find the Ponderosa Pine. It’s so cool, because the Ponderosa Pine smells like vanilla and caramel! We didn’t lick the tree, so we don’t know what it tasted like, 🤣 but the smell was mouthwateringly delicious!

Bryce Point was an amazing place with views that go on for miles! Each place on the overlook provided a different view, but all of them were magical! When we were there, I will say that there were a lot of people. If you want fewer crowds here, I would suggest going to this spot very early in the day, or off-season. The weather started getting a bit concerning, but we decided to chance it and risk the rain. We were so glad we did!

We decided to drive up to Rainbow Point next. It was a bit of a drive, but so worth it. This was one of our favorite places and had the highest elevation (9,115 ft.). There weren’t very many people, and there were more animals. My favorite animal was this adorable Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel. It was so cute! We were also entertained by a few Ravens that were not shy about singing off-key in front of their audience!

Agua Canyon was absolutely amazing! There were two spires that are known as The Hunter and The Rabbit. We really enjoyed spending time there and soaking in all the beauty. It was such a unique place and we met some wonderful friends there. Doug Turner introduced himself to us and was so kind. It was a pleasure to soak in all the beauty with such a sweet friend.

Driving along, we decided to stop at the Natural Bridge overlook. It did not disappoint! There is the most amazing formation that looks just like a bridge.

We purposely waited to hike the Navajo Loop at Sunset Point due to the weather. Although the day started out beautifully, the weather can change quickly in the mountains. We knew there was a chance of storms–especially in that area–so we had decided to explore the rest of the park to see if the weather would clear. As we drove back towards Sunset Point, the skies grew darker. Pulling into the parking lot, we knew we weren’t going to be able to hike anytime soon. We had just opened our snack and the skies opened, too. There was a downpour that even included some decent sized hail.
Not to be deterred, we sat back, relaxed, and filled our time talking about the amazing things we had seen that day while we waited out the storm. We waited quite a while, lol. Finally, we thought the storms had passed and we quickly made our way to the trail. Good thing we weren’t paid to forecast the weather, because we were wrong. 🤣 There wasn’t any thunder or lightning, thankfully. We were down pretty close to the botton of the canyon when the rain started again, so we finished up our hike and made our way back to the car. We may have looked drenched with a bad hair day, but we had an amazing adventure.

We truly enjoyed our time at Bryce Canyons. It is a fascinating place to explore, and we highly recommend taking a hike to see the Hoodoos up close and personal.
