After our adventures in Key Largo, we decided to head further into the Keys. The next Key we decided to venture into on the way to Marathon Key, was Islamorada. 🌴

We had been to Islamorada before, so we knew we wanted to go back to feed the tarpon at Robbie’s. There were quite a few vendors and restaurants in that area, so we wound through them to get to Robbie’s. Things have definitely changed in the last 5 years. 🤯 The last time we were there you could feed the tarpon anywhere on the docks, but now there is an area you needed to utilize to feed them. In the new area between the docks, there is now netting with hand holes. I’m sure it’s for safety or to prevent you from losing your phone, but it was really hard to get close enough to hand feed the tarpon–or to get decent pictures. 😏 However, I did put my phone through the holes to get a picture of this adorable manatee that kept swimming by! He was so stinking cute!!! 🥰 The pelicans were also pretty adorable–even if they did steal the fish we bought to feed the tarpons. 😂 🐟

Here are some videos of feeding the tarpon and the stinking cute manatee:
After we cleaned the fish off our hands, we decided to head to the cottage we had rented at Tropical Cottages on Marathon Key. Joe had found the perfect place for us! The cottage we rented was so clean and wonderful! We all loved it! 🥰 This was a new place for us to stay, and we will definitely be back. We walked the grounds and all of it was kept very clean and it was super safe. The cottages are similar to the clapboard cottages in the Caribbean and are painted in relaxing pastels. This is a family owned business, and those are what we try to visit and support whenever possible. They have owned it for 15 years despite most of the surrounding resorts selling out to corporates. I would highly recommend it and we plan on booking another stay very shortly! Here’s their website so you can check them out: https://www.tropicalcottages.net 🦩

I have to say, we also loved the taco truck and tiki bar on the premises. 🍹The kids both loved the churros! Joe loved the fish tacos, and I devoured every morsel of my La Pastor taco. The food was reasonably priced and delicious–and so were the drinks! They even served coffee at the tiki hut every morning. It was amazing! 🌮

On Marathon Key is our favorite beach–Sombrero Beach. We walked along the shore to our favorite cove. The water was warm, the sun was shining, and we had a great time! A word to the wise-you need to pay for parking. Parking was free the last time we visited, so it was a surprise for us. The beach was well worth it, though! 🏖️

What Key will we go to next? What adventures await? Will Jodi actually go over the 7 Mile Bridge to get to Key West? 🤣 More to come in the next episode of Traveling with the Trapps!
