After the drama we had during Maggie Valley, NC Part 1, we were hopeful the next part of the trip would go more smoothly. 🤞

We started the next day with an actual full night of sleep! Whoop Whoop! So grateful the miscreants from the night before were gone. I’m not sure if they checked out or were kicked out, but at this point we didn’t care. We were just happy they were gone! 🎉

After a lovely and uneventful breakfast (without any flying food 😉), we planned our day’s adventure. Joe found a place that sounded really cool and the kiddos and I were totally on board. So we headed out to take a scenic drive to Waterrock Knob. The drive along the BlueRidge Parkway was incredible. The overlooks were worth stopping and taking a picture (or 20). 📸

We continued on and drove to the Waterrock Knob Trail. The trail didn’t look too far, so we thought we’d go for a nice walk. The sign said it was 0.5 mile and that didn’t seem long at all. What the sign didn’t say was that it was dang near straight up. 😅 Joe and the kids were in tennis shoes, but of course I was in my slides. Yeah, not the best idea for footwear. Oh well, we did it anyway!

We climbed up the paved (but steep) trail until we got to the first lookout. ⛰ It was so beautiful! The weather was a bit chilly on the mountain so Juliana and I were glad we brought light jackets/sweatshirts. After a bit of a break on the bluff enjoying the view, we decided to continue on. 🥾

The path was no longer paved and was quite rocky. No worries, we had this! Even though my shoe slipped off a few times, we were determined to venture forth and explore! Taking pictures of the flowers, bees, blueberries, and blackberries kept us entertained throughout the arduous hike up the mountain.

The elevation of the overlook where we started was 5820 ft. The top where we ended up was 6292 ft. Was it worth it? Oh heck, yes! It was absolutely amazing!!! We met some friendly people along the way and had an incredible time! 🥰

After a brief break at the hotel, the kids wanted to go play some putt-putt golf. ⛳ It was pretty warm out, but we had a lot of fun with both Joe and Luke getting a hole-in-one! There was even a lighthouse on the course! YAY! 😃

We wrapped up our evening enjoying some movies with the kids and were very thankful that the day didn’t go like the last one. 🥰

We hope you are enjoying our travels! We’d love for you to subscribe and share it with your friends, if you’d like. We added some videos on our YouTube channel to go along with the post: https://www.youtube.com/@TravelingwiththeTrapps
